Summary:

Customer Journey Paths is a new ThoughtMetric report that visualizes the full multi-touch path to purchase. You can see which channels start, assist, and close each journey, and filter by channel, product name, and other dimensions to find the sequences your best customers follow. Find it in your dashboard under Customers > Customer Journey.

What is the Customer Journey Paths report?

The Customer Journey Paths report visualizes the full multi-touch path to purchase. See which channels start, assist, and close each journey.
Filter by channel, product name, and more to find the sequences your best customers follow.

Why customer journeys matter

Most e-commerce purchases involve more than one touchpoint. A shopper might find your brand through a TikTok ad, click a Google retargeting ad days later, then convert through an email campaign.

Looking at any single channel in isolation hides this. Customer Journey Paths shows the full sequence so you can see how channels work together.

How to read the report

The report is a flow chart. Visits run left to right across the top (Visit 1, Visit 2, Visit 3, and so on) until they land in the Order column on the right.

Channels appear as colored blocks at each visit step. Ribbons connect channels between visits, showing how customers move from one touchpoint to the next. The thicker the ribbon, the more customers followed that path.

Filters

Use the Add Filter button to narrow the view. Filter by channel, product name, and other dimensions to surface the sequences behind a specific segment.

For example, you can filter to a single product to see the channels that lead to its purchase, or to a specific starting channel to see where Google Ads visitors go next.
