Last Updated:
Across 200 e-commerce brands using ThoughtMetric in October 2026, Saturday was the slowest day of the week. Revenue on Saturdays ran 16% below a store's daily average, and orders ran 15% below. Monday was the strongest day for orders at 7% above average, and Wednesday had the highest conversion rate.
How we measured it
For each brand, we compared every day of the week to that brand's own daily average for October 2026. We used the median for each weekday so a single promo day doesn't skew the result, then took the median across all brands.
Results
Here is how each day compared to the average day for the typical brand.
Monday revenue +5%, orders +7%, conversion rate +4%, MER 0%
Tuesday revenue +2%, orders +2%, conversion rate +1%, MER +7%
Wednesday revenue +2%, orders +2%, conversion rate +7%, MER +6%
Thursday revenue +2%, orders +3%, conversion rate -3%, MER +4%
Friday revenue 0%, orders -1%, conversion rate +2%, MER +1%
Saturday revenue -16%, orders -15%, conversion rate -6%, MER -8%
Sunday revenue -7%, orders 0%, conversion rate -2%, MER -10%
What stands out
Saturday was the weakest day on every metric we looked at. Revenue came in 16% below the average day, and conversion rate dropped 6%.
Monday was the busiest day for orders. Weekend browsing may carry over into Monday purchases, though this data can't show that directly.
Midweek was the most efficient time for ad spend. MER ran 7% above average on Tuesday and 6% above on Wednesday, compared to 8% below on Saturday and 10% below on Sunday.
These are medians, so individual brands vary. B2B brands saw much sharper weekend drops, and a smaller group of consumer brands did their best business on weekends.
