In ThoughtMetric Custom Reports, every marketing channel keeps the same color across each chart. When you put two charts side by side, you can find the same channel in both without checking the legend each time.

Why consistent colors make reports easier to read

When the color stays fixed, your eye does the matching for you. You can scan two charts and immediately see the same channel in both, which is the part that usually takes the most effort when you are comparing reports.

It also makes a full dashboard easier to take in at a glance. Once you learn which color maps to a channel, that holds everywhere, so a report with several charts reads as one connected view rather than a set of separate pictures.

A spend versus sales example

Take a Total Sales by Marketing Channel chart next to a Spend by Marketing Channel chart. Google Ads is the same color in both. In this example it is 67 percent of spend and 49 percent of sales.

Meta Ads is also the same color in both. It is 30 percent of spend but a much smaller share of sales. Because the color matches across the two charts, the gap between what the channel costs and the sales attributed to it stands out before you read a single number.

Putting it to use

Consistent colors are most useful when you build reports that pair related charts, such as spend against sales or new against returning customers. Group the charts you compare often into one report and let the shared colors carry the comparison.

Small details like this are part of what makes ThoughtMetric easy to use day to day. The goal is reports you can read quickly, without extra steps in the way.
