How to Find the Best Channel for Your Top-Performing Product In ThoughtMetric

When you're planning your next campaign, you probably start with two key questions:

Guessing is risky. Choosing the wrong product or the wrong channel can burn through your budget fast. That’s why ThoughtMetric’s Product Attribution Dashboard was built, to give you fast, reliable answers based on actual performance data.
Here’s how to use it.
Step 1: Open the Product Attribution Dashboard
In your ThoughtMetric account, go to the left-hand menu and click Product. Then select Product Attribution.
This dashboard gives you a real-time view of how each product in your store performs across all your marketing channels. That includes paid search, social, email, SMS, and even organic traffic.
Step 2: Choose Your Top-Performing Product
At the top of the page, you’ll see a chart labeled Total Sales by Product. By default, your five best-performing products are already selected.
For this example, we’re narrowing in on just one. Uncheck the others so only your top product is selected. This is the product you’re considering for your next campaign.
Step 3: Switch to “By Channel” View
Now, go to the dropdown next to the chart and switch from By Product to By Channel.
This view shows you a channel-by-channel breakdown of how that product is performing. You’ll see exactly where sales are coming from, whether that’s Google Ads, Meta, email, or another source.
Step 4: Use ROAS to Guide Your Decision
Let’s say you notice that your top product drives strong revenue from Google Ads. If the return on ad spend (ROAS) for that channel looks solid, and you can confirm that in your broader ThoughtMetric dashboard, that’s a strong signal.
It means Google Ads is a safe, data-driven channel to promote this product. You’re not just guessing. You’re backing your campaign with real numbers.
